The Mondadori Group is providing this extended report on cookies, the Cookie Policy, in order to explain to all Users the types and ways to use the individual cookies used on its websites, and to provide all the information necessary so that their installation on their browsers can be refused or eliminated.
Cookies are strings of text made up of portions of code sent from one web server (e.g. the website) to an Internet browser and installed inside it. More specifically, they are small text files that the websites users visit send to their terminals, where they are stored to then be sent back to the same websites on subsequent visits. Almost all browsers are set so that cookies are automatically filed on the User’s terminal.
Cookies are used for different and various purposes. They have different peculiarities and can be used both by the Mondadori Group and by third parties. The websites of the Mondadori Group use or can use - also combined with each other - the following categories of cookies, divided up based on the classification proposed in Opinion 04/2012 on Cookie Consent Exemption issued by the Working Party pursuant to Art. 29 of Directive 95/46/EC (found here):
Cookies can expire at the end of a browser session (the period elapsing between when the User opens a browser window and closes it) or can be kept for a longer time span. Session cookies are those that allow websites to tie together user’s actions during a browser session. Session cookies expire when the browser session ends. Persistent cookies are stored on a user’s device between browser sessions for varying periods of time, and allow the User’s preferences of actions concerning a website to be stored.
Technical cookies are those that the website owner uses solely to transmit a communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the supplier of an information company service that the subscriber or User explicitly requests to supply said service. Prior User consent is not required to install these cookies if they are used directly by the website operator.
Profiling Cookies are aimed at creating User profiles and are used to send advertising messages matching the preferences the User shows while browsing the web. Owing to the particular invasiveness that these Cookies may have in the Users’ privacy, European and Italyn legislation requires that the User must be adequately informed on their use by way of a brief notice (banner) and an extended report on the website, and that Users have to give their express consent on the matter the first time they visit the website. Said consent may be given in a general way by interacting with the short notice banner on the landing page of the website, with the methods indicated in the banner, or may be given or denied selectively according to the methods explained below. Track of this consent is kept when subsequent visits are made. However, the User always has the possibility to fully or partly revoke the consent previously given.
First party and third party cookies

Mondadori Group websites may use Adobe Flash Player to offer some multimedia contents. The program is installed by default on most of the Users’ terminals.
If some of these contents are used, Google Analytics stores additional data on the computer, also known as Flash Cookies (or Local Share Objects), through which the owner is able to learn the total number of times a certain audio/video file is opened, the number of persons that use it up to the end, and how many persons instead close it before the end.
The Adobe website supplies information on how to remove or disable the Flash Cookies (see www.adobe.com/devnet/security.html).
Limiting and/or eliminating the use of this type of flash cookie may jeopardise the functions available for the applications based on Flash technology.
Furthermore, the advertising agency Mediamond S.p.A. might ask the Mondadori Group to install tracking codes regarding advertising services on the Web Space so that the agency’s client can keep track of the progress of a specific advertising campaign. The duration of this tracking activity may vary, and may also be limited to only a few days or weeks, which makes publication of a constantly updated list herein impossible. Therefore, the User is advised to contact the Mondadori Group, referring to the contact information contained herein, to get more information and updates to this regard.

In addition to what is stated herein, Users can manage their Cookie preferences directly inside their browsers and prevent, for example, third parties from installing them. It is also possible to use the browser preferences to eliminate Cookies installed in the past, including the Cookie in which the consent to install Cookies by this website may have been saved. It is important to note that operation of this website might be prejudiced if all Cookies are disabled. Without prejudice to the foregoing, the Mondadori Group hereby notifies that the User may make use of Your Online Choices.
